Photo of an Alabama wedding

Home to antebellum architecture and a hotbed of American history, Alabama is a state known for its football and its part in the civil rights movement, as well as savory Southern fare and a legendary musician or two. However, the state’s cities, rolling northern hills and southern edge on the Gulf Coast also make it a particularly pretty place to plan a wedding. In fact, we have at least one real wedding that keeps us coming back to the Heart of Dixie for more. With that in mind, here are a few local vendors that we think just might help make your day absolutely perfect.

Swann Lake Stables

Perched just outside of Birmingham on the edge of the Cahaba River, Swann Lake Stables is a dreamy Alabama wedding venue and a rustic wedding planning bride’s dream – with just a hint of hidden gem status. Intimate and secluded, the venue is made entirely of aged wood and has brick flooring, an open lawn perfect for outdoor seating and tall stone fireplaces begging for market light accents. A riverside ceremony is practically a must and utterly picture-perfect.

Alabama Wedding Photography

Located in Huntsville but serving the greater Alabama area, Ginny Webb of Sleepy Fox Photography likes to keep things simple. She offers a single wedding package that can be tailored to meet your specific needs, and considers photography to be one of life’s most important art forms. In her opinion, the photographs she will take of your wedding day become your journal of that day, documented to keep for your future together. They also happen to be beautiful.

Alabama Wedding Cakes

Specializing in made-from-scratch bakery items, Savage's Bakery is a Birmingham establishment that knows its way around a good wedding cake. All bakery items here are hand-cut and molded for a taste of nostalgia you’ll want to savor, and both bride’s and groom’s cakes are made-to-order in sizes that can serve any number from 40 to 400 guests. Favorite flavors include white cake with almond and chocolate fudge pound cake. We might also be found munching quite happily on one of their customized butter cookies.
