April and Bob

Wedding Party

We're keeping the wedding party simple and small. We'll each have a single attendant, but our family members will each have a role as well: Bob's father will be his attendant; his step-mother will be in charge of the guest book. April's younger sister will be her attendant; her older sister and brother-in-law will come down the aisle first, in place of April's late mother and father; her two brothers will be ushers.

Chris Sobenes

Bride's Attendant
Chris Sobenes

Chris is April's younger sister. Once, when April and her mother were talking about starting a hope chest for April, Chris piped up and said "You mean pray chest." She always did get the laughs. But she takes as well as she gives. And she's going to stand up with April, which means the bride-to-be doesn't carry a grudge.

Les Campbell

Groom's Attendant

Les, Bob's Dad, lives in Riverside County with his wife, Bob's stepmother, Lynn. Les owns and operates CycoPath, a full-service bicycle store located Temecula.

Lisa Karys-Schiff

Mother of the Bride, kind of
Lisa Karys-Schiff

Lisa is April's older sister. Because their mother passed away in April of 2007, Lisa has graciously agreed to act as MOB. Because we have a wicked sense of humor, we are calling her the "SOB." Good thing she has a wicked sense of humor, too.

Helen Karys

Koumbara (Sponsor)

In Greek weddings, the koumbara (or koumbaros, if male) plays an essential role. Our koumbara, who is a sister of April's late father, will stand as witness to the wedding on behalf of the Greek Orthodox Church. She will provide the marriage crowns and candles, and a tray filled with Jordan almonds. She will exchange the rings and the crowns during the ceremony, and walk with us around the table in the "Dance of Isaiah," which symbolizes our first steps together as a wedded couple.
