Our Story

HOW WE MET

|Uche|

Pastor Daniel and I met two days after a conference we had both attended ( Higher Life Conference UK 09’) at my guardians house. We didn’t speak to each other except exchange pleasantries. I barely noticed him as I was engrossed in a program on TV and later with a conversation with my guardian.

About a week later I received a call from him saying he would like to see me again. We arranged to meet at a restaurant, there, he introduced himself again, asked some questions about me and told me about himself, he hinted that he would like to take ‘this’ further if I gave him the opportunity and would like to meet my Pastor and Parents. During the conversation, I realised we had some mutual friends and had probably been in the same place on different occasions without knowing it in the past. He kept talking; I listened to him carefully and studied him.

I could not help laughing on my way home that evening. I called my mum ( she is like my sister ) to share the story with her, I remember us laughing so hard I think I shed a tear.

He called a couple of times and I enjoyed listening to him. We got closer...always on the phone, we went out for some meals, went to see some movies and visited places of interest...from our conversation and the time we spent together I learnt more about him. He is a man of the Word, prayerful, deep, full of integrity, quiet, focused, gentle and kind. It occurred to me that he could be an answer to a prayer I made when I was about 12, I asked God to give me a husband later in life that I could serve Him in a large capacity with.

I communicated with my pastor, guardian, parents and a few close friends. We got 'approval'... things happened pretty quickly, ( increased speed ...lol ) and we travelled home for our traditional wedding where I met his lovely family and he met mine.

Planning the white wedding has brought us closer and made us realise how we can work together.

We await 20th March when we’d be joined together in Holy matrimony and we can share our love and laughter with our friends and family.

From previous conversations I had with my Pastor I was aware that there was a lady named Uche somewhere though we had not met.

One cold morning, I got wind that she would be coming to my Pastors house so I decided to be there in the evening to see her for myself. When she walked in, I felt a sense of peace and I noticed that she was gentle, that aroused my interest. I observed her from a distance and felt led in my heart to take it a step further so I requested for her number from her guardian when she had returned home.

A few days later I called and we arranged to meet. When we met, I asked her questions about herself and told her about myself. I indicated to her that I would like to get to know her better. I enjoyed the conversation and was attracted to her spirit. After the second contact I knew I wanted to meet her again so I kept in touch.

I called her from time to time and we went out to some places. At some point, she asked me why I kept calling then I told her I would let her know when next we'ld meet.

THE PROPOSAL

THE PROPOSAL

I visited her at a time when she was preparing dinner, while in the kitchen I cleared my voice and popped the question. ‘Would you marry me?’
She stared at me blankly for some seconds...smiled and told me she would get back to me.

I kept praying. About a week later we went out to see a movie and while the movie was on she drew my ears closely to her and said softly...'YES’!
I was overwhelmed with joy; we hugged each other and took pictures.
