Some would say that I am a natural born photographer. My mom tells me that at least, based on a photograph she has of me with a camera case on my head at the age of 2. I remember always having an interest in photographing people starting with our family vacation to Disney World when I was 4. I kept begging my mom to let me take the pictures, and when she would give in, the photos came out pretty darn good for a 4 year old.
It wasn’t until 8th grade that my interest in photography really started to grow. I took my first darkroom photography class with Mr. Colburn and was hooked. Over the next year, I saved every penny I made babysitting and bought myself my first real camera. A Nikon N2000 that I still have to this day. I continued to take classes all through high school and engrossed myself in every aspect of photography that I could. I worked in photo labs and apprenticed under some wonderful wedding photographers. They took me under their wing and taught me so much. That was where my passion for wedding photography brewed.
I remember thinking, “Shooting weddings is so much fun and completely rewarding! I get to share the happiest days in a couple’s life together and I’m blessed to be the one who gives them photos to look back on it for years to come.” So, I decided to open my photography business under the name of First Glimpse Photography in beautiful Estes Park Colorado in the fall of 2002. In 2004, I moved to San Diego in pursuit of sandy beaches where I continue to be blessed with one of the best jobs in the world. I am grateful to each and every client for entrusting their memories to me and for allowing me to share such a wonderful occasion with them.
