About Us

Overview

Bacara is located along the Gaviota coastline, nestled between the Pacific Ocean and Santa Ynez Mountains, on a 78-acre coastal bluff. Bacara is owned and operated by OHANA Real States Investors.

The name “Bacara” is derived from the Chumash Native Americans who flourished in the area for thousands of years. Their word for this enchanted land was Anacapa, which means mirage. The name Bacara intertwines Barbara (from Santa Barbara) and Anacapa. Santa Barbara got its name from a Spanish Carmelite friar escaping a storm in 1602. He named his refuge after the saint whose feast day it was.

Wine & Dine

Guests can dine in a range of ambiences at the Resort’s four dining venues, including its signature restaurant, Miró.

Miró
Miró, named after Spanish artist, Joan Miró, offers stunning views of the Pacific Ocean, an artistic, luxurious interior and extraordinary contemporary American cuisine built on classical techniques with a focus on regional ingredients.

Miró Bar & Lounge offers an intimate setting for enjoying sensational tapas, homemade sangria and innovative cocktails made from ultra premium ingredients by Bacara’s talented mixologists. Miró is open for dinner Tuesday through Saturday, 6:30pm - 9:30pm.

To further enhance the dining experience is a tremendous selection of world-class wines selected from Miró’s Wine Cellar, which, for nine years in a row, has been awarded Wine Spectator’s Best Of Award of Excellence. Miró’s Wine Cellar houses an extensive collection of wines, upwards of 12,000 bottles featuring 1200 world-class labels that span 13 countries and 75 international appellations. The wine list has expanded over the years and now proudly represents the greatest wines produced in the world, as well as local California wineries.

One truly exceptional feature of Miró Restaurant is the 40-seat private dining room in the Wine Cellar, which contains a large portion of Bacara’s rare and prestigious red wines. Imported French stones, original artwork and candles arranged atop rustic candelabras create the unmistakable allure of a private setting along the Iberian Peninsula. Miró’s Wine Cellar is the perfect room to host a private engagement, a corporate wine tasting function or a quaint social affair. Miro’s wine Sommelier will gladly customize a wine menu to accompany your desired meal.

The Bistro
Situated oceanside, The Bistro offers a casual and relaxed atmosphere in which to dine, as well as sweeping views of the coastline. Its Mediterranean-fusion cuisine can be enjoyed indoors or al fresco on a spacious stone terrace. Chef de Cuisine Johan Denizot uses fresh fish and regionally grown fruits and vegetables, which are just some of the items that make dining here an unforgettable experience. The Bistro has a total seating capacity of 290, with both indoor and outside seating available.

Spa Café
At the Spa Café, guests can enjoy upscale take-out café cuisine featuring a selection of sandwiches, salads and treats for breakfast and lunch. Guest may join us each morning in our lounge or terrace overlooking the Spa Pool for complimentary coffee, Wi-Fi and a selection of daily newspapers.

Bacara Bar

For a luxurious open-air ambiance, the Ocean Terrace is located adjacent to the bar, where lovely views of the resort and Pacific Ocean can be enjoyed. The two main pools, Resort Pool and Cabana Pool, have their own heated saline hydrotherapy spa while the Spa hosts its own in each of the gender specific indoor wet areas. The benefits of saline pools include no burning eyes or irritated skin, no chlorine odor and no damaged hair or bathing suits.

Twenty-six specially designed, private cabanas look out onto the ocean and frame the Cabana Pool, one of the resort’s two main swimming pools. Available with a special reservation, guests are treated to bottled water, a fresh fruit amenity, Internet access and dedicated waiter service. Wireless Internet service is available as well.

Championship golf with breathtaking views is available at two renowned 18-hole courses. Both offer advanced special reservations for guests and professional instruction.

Sandpiper Golf Course, designed by William F. Bell, is adjacent to the resort and features views of the Pacific Ocean and Santa Ynez Mountains. This golf course has played host to several professional tournaments including the PGA TOUR Tournament Players Series, the LPGA TOUR Santa Barbara Women’s Open and the prestigious final stage of the PGA TOUR qualifying event.

The Glen Annie Golf Course, designed by Robert Muir Graves and Damien Pascuzzo, is just two miles from the Resort. It offers panoramic views of the Channel Islands and surrounding countryside.

Four tennis courts, located seaside on property, have Har-Tru surfaces. Professional instruction is available, and tennis apparel and equipment can be purchased at the Pro Shop.
