Choosing the right wedding photographer is an important decision during what can be a stressful time. Most of the planning is done with the wedding guests in mind but having a photographer just serves the bride, groom (and immediate family.) If you are getting married you want to be thrilled with your pictures. However, getting great pictures should not come at the expense of your guest's enjoyment at your wedding. Ever been to a wedding where everyone is standing around wondering where the bridal party could have disappeared to for so long? Odds are a fussy photographer is taking too long.
As a wedding photographer I never lose sight of how valuable every minute of that special day really is. My approach is to document the experience and emotions as the day unfolds. Forcing people to model for the camera for long periods can result in staged and awkward looking pictures. Photography is all about timing. Knowing when to suggest a quick photo session and getting it done with little fuss can be a lifesaver for a busy couple on a very demanding day. I use every ounce of experience and technology to create the formal photographs and capture those precious candid moments. The trick is balancing the two styles. I have over 15 years experience in photojournalism, which really helps when it comes to observing and capturing the "story" of a great event like a wedding.
