In 1924 owner Elmer Lowell built the Lowell Inn. The Lowell Inn replaced the Lumberman's Sawyer House. As a gathering site for local lumberman etc, the Sawyer house was one of only two hotels in 1848 and Elmer Lowell chose to continue the tradition of lush rooms and fine dining when the Lowell Inn was established.
The George Washington Room 1930 embodies elegance and romance. In any season, guests dine in formal elegance with colonial arched windows. The menu is traditional American fine dining.
The Garden Room 1937 is essence of a country garden with its natural decor. The detailed, stained glass windows, frame the first North American spring-fed trout pool, complete with waterfall, bring yet another Natural touch to this exquisite room.
The Matterhorn Room 1959, was constructed from 1959-1964. Dedicated to the loss art of Swiss wood carving, all panels and mill work in this room have been carved or hand worked by Eddy Blatter. His artistic carvings took three years to make the room complete. Complimenting this extraordinary Swiss wood working is the Lowell's traditional Fondue Bourguignon.

We offer St. Croix River Charter Cruises departing from the Port of Stillwater, we are located right downtown on the South end. We have 5 beautiful Paddle Wheeler river boats, our boats can accommodate groups of 25 to 800 passengers. Dining can be planned to meet the needs of your group, from snacks and hors d'oeuvres to complete meals. Throughout your cruise, your group will be attended by our courteous and experienced crews. Entertainment is available to you, through our recommendations or of your own choice. Enjoy any season, as there is air conditioning/heating on board.

Very special Lowell Inn dining services await you. Luncheon parties up to 175 may be accommodated in staggered intervals in the Garden, Matterhorn and George Washington rooms. Dining rooms are available privately for dining or meetings of groups 40-175. (subject to minimums)
Our small conference room is ideal for smaller groups up to twenty attendees. The Matterhorn room is available until 5:00 pm for meetings up to 50 attendees.
Receptions.... The New Lowell Inn has two unique dining rooms for receptions up to 125 guests. Our menu includes American Continental Fare, and our Chefs will work with you to create your special menu. We carry only the best wines, and we offer a full bar, the Cocktail Lounge, Front Parlor, and the Outdoor Patio are ready for your enjoyment.
