About Us

Would you share your man? No! So why buy off-the-rack and share your dress? Walk down the aisle with confidence knowing that, like your man, your dress is a one-of-a-kind.

My passion for sewing began at a very early age (7 years old) starting with cross stitching, tacking and then doing blind hems by hand. As I grew older the passion grew stronger and stronger and I went on to studying a BTEC National Diploma in Knitwear Design at college in Leicester, England. My biggest achievement during my first year at college was, one of my knitted garments being photographed in the local newspaper. It was later used by the college for marketing purposes to promote the course. I went further to completing my HND in Clothing Technology at Liverpool College, England, passing with distinctions and then getting my certificate for passing the British Standard Requirements of ISO 9002.

I moved to the USA where i married the man of my dreams and together we formed our company, "Nijlane Creations" - "NIJ" - taken from my maiden name, "Nijjar" and "Lane" - taken from my husbands name. Together we become "Nijlane". "G" is my baby brother, George and "J" is my loving niece Jasmine. Together they become the company logo "GJ".

Our vision is to create unique and personal dresses custom-made for each individual by incorporating their input and design ideas with our own ability and training expertise. Using fabrics and trims from overseas (primarily India and England) we create completely personal pieces to be worn and enjoyed. Drawing on the inspiration and talent of three generations of dressmaking, blending the style of my Indian heritage along with my British schooling and the customers design ideas, together we can create one-of-a-kind pieces of clothing to be enjoyed - whether on special occasions or simply as an indulgence to spoil oneself.

This natural flair for design and creativity was passed down to my mother from my Nan, who made clothes by hand, for her six children during the dark nights in India using a small "DIVA" for light. My baby brother, who is one of my biggest inspirations, and I were blessed to have inherited this amazing talent by our mother who is also born with an eye for design.
