I've been a Santa Barbara resident since 1991, when I first moved here to work for several radio stations. I'm also very involved as a lay leader in my church in Carpinteria, which is just south of Santa Barbara. I draw on over 20 years of media experience and 10 years of serving in the church to bring out the very best in any ceremony.
As a lay leader, I'm often called upon to lead service and deliver the sermon in my church. I will infuse your ceremony with care, strong presentation skills and a warm, personal touch.
Whether you are seeking a ceremony based in the loving word of God and Christ, or you prefer a less formal approach, I can provide the input and suggestions that will help you navigate through this most important part of your wedding day.
I often remind couples that this is your very special ceremony of a very special day and it should reflect your feelings of love and commitment.
In reality, there is no "set" way of performing a ceremony. For those who want to keep it simple, I can reduce the ceremony to just an exchange of vows. For others who wish to have a more elongated ceremony, we can work together to come up with all of the various elements. Some couples prefer a religious aspect; others desire words that reflect their spiritual oneness and still others will opt for their own words of love and commitment.
Initially, I'll provide you with several ceremony options to get you started and if you desire to have a ceremony crafted to your specifications I'll do that as well. I encourage you to talk with one another about what you would like said by the officiant and what you would like to say to each other aside from the standard vows.
More than anything, your ceremony should be an open expression of the love between the two of you and of the life you are about to embark on together. These are words that you will speak as a mutual bond to one another and to those that are gathered to witness this wonderful moment; they should not be taken lightly.
I always make myself available for the rehearsal and for consultations-in person, over the phone or via e-mail-at no extra charge.
I'm also familiar with many of the popular wedding sites in, around and near Santa Barbara and the Ventura area. I'm adept in any setting-indoor or out-and I'm very flexible on how you want the ceremony to proceed and where certain elements will fall.
Over the years I've also learned that if it is an outdoor setting, or there is a large group gathered in a church or hall, that everyone should be able to hear the ceremony. If there is no sound system available on site, I can provide one so that attending guests can properly hear the "I do's".
Please call me anytime to discuss the details, including my fee.
May God bless you both as you set out on this new life together.
