About Us

Podesta Baldocchi was founded in 1871 by the Podesta and Baldocchi families who came here from Italy looking for an opportunity to provide a better life for their loved ones. In 2007, Podesta Baldocchi remains one of the oldest businesses in San Francisco and one of the oldest, continuously operating floral design businesses in the United States.

There have been many changes over the past century-the company no longer uses a fleet of wood-panel vans and "Podesta Baldocchi" Packards known as "floral cars" to make deliveries, but the company is still known for its place in San Francisco and American cultural history. In fact, Podesta Baldocchi featured prominently in the 1958 release of Alfred Hitchcock's movie thriller "Vertigo."

In November 2001, San Francisco native Marc Rovetti took ownership of Podesta Baldocchi. Marc's father moved here from Italy in the 1950s and worked at Podesta Baldocchi before he went on to own his own business. Today, Marc is delighted to have the opportunity to restore this gem to the grandeur and elegance of old-world San Francisco while at the same time providing customers with excellent service and contemporary and innovative designs for which it has long been known.

In April 2007, long-time Bay Area resident Joby Morris was hired as our wedding and event designer. Joby is highly skilled in her trade and loves her job, which is reflected in her designs. At Podesta Baldocchi we pay great attention to detail and treat each client with the consideration and care they deserve. Although we offer wedding packages, it is our belief that each and every wedding is unique and we treat each order as a custom order, no matter how modest or extravagant your event is.

“Joby, This quick note will never do this justice, but I have to tell you that those flowers took my breath away....they were completely original and absolutely stunning! Everyone raved about them, and they just could not have been any more wonderful. Thank you so much for your fantastic service, and your exquisite creation. You helped make the day perfect! Very truly yours, Michon Herrin”
