River Club of Mequon

Speculation regarding the status of the former Mequon Country Club has quickly blossomed into a bona fide buzz over what is now called The River Club of Mequon. 

An ambitious transformation is currently under-way, and by the spring of 2012 a new 27-hole private club alternative will bestow a freshly minted gleam across Milwaukee's suburban north shore. 

Rebranded, remodeled and re-imagined to deliver a completely new experience, River Club of Mequon invites you the collective essence of a beautiful natural setting with elegant amenities and a healthy dose of good old fashioned bonhomie.

River Club of Mequon is pleased to announce that construction has begun on the property formerly known as Mequon Country Club, located at12400 N. Ville Du Parc Drive. The 44,000 sq. ft. clubhouse is undergoing a series of major renovations as part of an overall transformation that will add nearly 15,000 sq.ft, to the facility and include additional outdoor balcony seating and glassed-in vistas overlooking the golf course.

To mark the transition, River Club of Mequon has developed a new brand identity that reflects the kind of casual elegance their current and prospective members are seeking. Membership surveys at golf and country clubs around the country have shown a growing preference for more casual and comfortable environments versus the formality common to more traditional clubs.

The club’s new owner, Tom Weickardt, has stated that his goal is to create a family-friendly, community conscious club with “an active four season vibe.” Some of Weickardt’s planned improvements for the spring of 2012 will include:

• A new upscale but casual public restaurant to be called “Nines” (at the River Club).
• A banquet hall expansion to accommodate over 400 people and upgraded with state of the art lighting options and other atmospherics.
• A major renovation of the club’s two pools; designed to appeal to all ages, including a children’s pool with zero entry, interactive fountains and water slides.
• A complete renovation of the club’s 6 tennis courts with all new hard surfaces, nets and fencing.
• A nearly 4,000 sq.ft. activity room featuring popular electronic games, selected movies and other entertainment options for the children of diners that can also be sectioned and/or reserved for private parties of various sizes.
• Additional maintenance equipment and other turf management upgrades to the 27 hole layout.

Plans for later in 2012 include a potential skating rink, various winter sport trails, and two top of the line golf simulators. Discussions involving a year ’round science-based putting studio have also begun in earnest.
