I can rightfully say that PASSION is my middle name.....I hear this statement all the time, "You are the most passionate person I know!" I wear my passion with every breath.
I don’t really consider myself truly to be a photographer. Rather I am an artist using the medium of photography to express myself. I have always known that I am an artist from the time I was about 5. The medium changes from time to time as I yearn to dabble in something new. But since the age of 9 or 10 when my father purchased his first professional SLR camera--an Olympus OM10 “GOLD” to me--photography has been a part of my life.
I remember vividly my first photographic experience come-to-life on film. My Father allowed me to take a picture of a group of beautiful young women donned in plantation style clothing who worked at Busch Gardens in Florida, parasols in hand, green grass surrounding them on all sides. Their dresses were soft shades of pink, blue and green like flowers from a watercolor painting. I held my breath as I focused and pressed the shutter........not wanting to make a mistake, desiring so desperately to capture what I saw and felt. I also remember the feeling deep within me when the film was developed and I could hold the print in my hands. I had indeed captured what I "saw and felt" on that day at Busch Gardens. And my heart sang!
My "beautiful young women in plantation dresses" now come to me as children, families, brides, couples, grandparents, and friends.....dandelions, the setting sun filtering through tree branches. Nearly everything moves me to take hold of my camera and capture what moves me at any given moment.
THAT is what photography is to me!
