Built circa 1906 on Bakers Walnut Grove,by John Carter, its no wonder why this lovely home was first coined the ”Carter House”. Now known as the nations largest city park, Eagle Creeks lumber was the main supply of wood used to build the home. Moreover, a conversational piece with the guests the Carters would host in the years to come. They would enjoy the home for roughly 10+ years before selling it to the Baker family.
The Baker family’s story is somewhat short lived, for one reason or another. After residing for only a few years it is said that the family fled to Pennsylvania due to not being able to manage the “up keep” of the home.
February 1952, the Stallion family, bought the home after it sat vacant for many years. Then somewhere around 1962, the fourth owners, known as the Farris family, would provide many additions to adorn the space over the course of their 40 years of ownership. It is said that during this time is when the home originally began to operate as a “ Speedway bed and breakfast”.
Today, this “southern bell” victorian style is situated on one acre of beautifully landscaped lawn and sporadic, yet strategically placed ponds. The current owner, Julayne Smithson, recently states that “ the simplicity of it all creates an ambiance to fit any ones style”. Peacefulness and tranquility transcend this property making it the perfect backdrop for your wedding or event. There are several vignettes that are quite suitable for ceremonies of any size. Filled with elements of style, early 19th century décor and architecture, this vintage “southern bell” of a mansion exudes charm and character. The rooms are elegantly decorated with period style furnishings that could have easily fit within the homes original setting and offers plenty of natural light. A well-lit patio that is greater than the “length of the house” allows your guests to socialize outdoors.

The Speedway Legacy Inn is complete with F & B choices, crisp white linens covering round or banquet style seating for 8-10 guests, coordinating white linen napkins, comfortable chairs, white or clear cocktail or dinner plate ware, crystal candle and/or various centerpieces, utensils, glassware and SIX (6) clothed and skirted ancillary tables. The above mentioned items are inclusive of the pricing. However, serving & wait staff, coat check employees and coordinator may be added for an additional fee. Bars, dance floors, AV, DJ and/or Entertainment are built into a customized package. All prices are subject to service charges and state sales tax are subject to change up to 90 days prior to your event. Ceremonial amenities include but are not limited to candelabras, pillars, aisle runner and floral arrangements. Our coordinator will be available to assist you and/or your event coordinator through the wedding day process. Whether its getting the bridal party lined up for their entrance or making certain the bride and groom have something to drink while taking pictures our staff is here to SERVE you. AMENITIES…..

The Speedway Legacy Inn offers a variety of rooms to suit your needs. We can accommodate private dinner parties up to 20 or larger celebrations and corporate gatherings & events with seating up to 120. Due to the popularity of certain days and times, minimums and availability may vary
The Meeting Den $25 per hour/ 4 hour min.
This room offers a private outside entrance or can be accessed via the Master Suite. Perfect for small parties that seat up to 20 people comfortably for a sit down dinner and accommodates more for events similar open housse or events that call for “chairs” only. During the warmer months most parties find that their guests enjoy “spilling Out” onto the outdoor areas of which there is ample room to “move about”.
The Le’Tres Foyer $125 per hour/4 hour min.
Enjoy this room’s cozy atmosphere. Perfect for up to 155 people at your indoor ceremony or 100 people for a reception. This space is the perfect setting for corporate meetings and events, bar or bat mitzvahs or non-profit fundraising parties.
The Main Room $75 per hour/ 4 hour min.
The ambiance, fireplace and original flooring adorns this room, ( also known as) the Living Room, where guests are welcome to have more intimate conversation. This space seats up to 45 people reception style and as many as 75 theater style.
The Gazebo and Outdoor events….. ***call for pricing***
With the setting of the Gazebo being strategically placed it provides ample space and ensures that all of your guest has a “front row seat” to you special day. Many couples dream of an outdoor wedding but dread the complications that come along with the uncertainty of “mother nature”. However, at The Speedway Legacy Inn, we offer indoor and outdoor space to accommodate you and Mother Nature. Opening in the Spring of 2014, is the Outdoor Patio Pavillion . Complete with white wooden chairs & plenty outdoor lighting, this will create a unique spot for up to 200ppl.

Depending on the season we are able to accommodate up to 15 people. Due to popularity pricing & availability may vary. Additional room accommodations can be arranged on behalf of your party at pre- negotiated rate.
