Helpful Tips on Finding the Perfect Music for Your Wedding
You have waited and dreamed all your life of the special day that is now becoming a reality. Your wedding day will soon arrive, and you want it to be perfect in every way. Choosing the right music can be one of the most important decisions you will make to ensure that you and your guests will enjoy a lifetime of wonderful wedding memories. The task of finding the best musical match for your event needn’t be difficult if you follow a few simple pieces of advice.
The most important tip to remember when hiring musical entertainment is to start early! Many entertainers book well in advance...sometimes as much as a year. This is especially true during the peak wedding season which includes the months of June through September and December. It is always better to book entertainment early and have the luxury of choosing the entertainment you want, rather than being limited to those artists who are still available.
When choosing musical entertainment, it is a good idea to preview their demo materials. If you rely on the services of a professional booking agent or wedding planner, you can depend on their experiences with artists who have proven their abilities and professionalism over a period of time, thus taking the worry out of your decision. A seasoned professional will be able to provide you with complete promotional information which includes audio demos (or sometimes video), pictures, song lists and references as well as a description of the act. One of the advantages of working with a booking agent is that they work with artists full time and are constantly in touch with the music scene. They are aware of the many musical performers in your region and have access to ideas that would otherwise be difficult to discover on your own.
Never hire entertainment without a contract. The only way to avoid misunderstandings on the day of your event is to have all details about the performance in writing within the context of a contract. Always ask questions about any aspect of the performance that you may not understand. This is also true of the technical portion of the performance. Another advantage of using an agent or event planner is that they are experienced at coordinating things like load-in of equipment, coordination of power for sound and lighting, stage size, dressing room requirements for the act, and much more.
Don’t be afraid to be creative! Entertainers frequently offer a variety of material to please people of all ages and backgrounds. The more informed you are about the details of your event, the more suggestions band leaders, booking agents and event planners can make in suggesting the perfect act for your event.
Finally and most importantly......have fun! Once you know what you have to do, selecting entertainment for your event can be much easier than you think.

The Swingline Cubs
Swingin' since 1983, the band was christened the "Swingline Cubs" by a bartender in a rare moment in history. But no professional organization, even those specializing in a "good time," can get very far without responsible business practices. This is what separates the Cubs from the rest of the pack.
The Swingline Cubs offer clients a full-service office and a full-time manager dedicated to the fulfillment of band and clients' needs. This means timely contacts, calls, contracts, mailings, and accounting. Wedding and event resources, event advice, referrals, and other services are routine. This band pays its "office dues", which translates into better band business. The Swingline Cubs treat every engagement as if it were the biggest day in their clients' lives... because it often is!
