THE GRAND WEDDING
The bride arrives at sunset over the Blue Lagoon waters on a beautifully decorated bili bili, a raft adorned with flowers and poled by Fijian men in traditional warrior dress. If they choose, both the bride and groom wear authentic Fijian wedding costumes of tapa cloth (which are theirs to keep after the ceremony). The bride’s husband-to-be waits on a white sand beach, while the full Fijian choir sings a capella in the background. After the ceremony, the couple and guests enjoy a lavish dinner celebration, including a feast with champagne and wedding cake, a kava ceremony, music and dancing. They will also receive a wedding DVD, digital photos and a Memory Book. A maximum of one Grand Wedding ceremony is held per week. Couples must arrive on Turtle Island at least three days before the Grand Wedding to finalize arrangements.
THE PRIVATE WEDDING
This wedding is set on a private beach around 11 am the day after the couple arrives. The bride and groom wear their own wedding attire, as they choose. This is an intimate, private event for the couple, with only the marriage celebrant and eight Fijian singers in attendance. After the ceremony, the couple enjoys a private picnic, including champagne and a wedding cake, on the secluded beach.
Bures and Villas ~ During your stay at this exotic island retreat, your home will be one of only 14 private villas, or “bures”—traditional, authentic, eco-friendly, two-room cottages built by Fijian craftsmen. Spacious, romantic, and wonderfully relaxing, light spills in from windows that overlook the tranquil waters of the Blue Lagoon while gentle winds carry the intoxicating scent of tropical blossoms through the breezy interiors.
Each luxurious bure provides separate sleeping, dressing, and bathing areas, as well as a bar stocked with drinks and fresh tropical fruit, iPod players, and Pure Fiji body products.
Every Grand bure has a king-size bed, extensive dressing area, writing desk, walk-in double shower, hot tub, outdoor open air rinsing shower, and a veranda with queen-size day bed for napping in the sun-flecked shade of the palms overhead. The Deluxe bure has a king-size bed, bathroom with two showers, a rattan furnished sitting room, a writing desk, a queen-size day bed, and an outdoor open air-rinsing shower. Each bure is slightly different in design and layout, reflecting the uniqueness of the setting, with bespoke art and design. Many bures are named after some of the past guests, including "Brooke's Bure" (Brooke Shields), "Ratu Mara Bure" (former Fiji President).

In 2006, consistent with this accolade, Turtle was again voted by Travel & Leisure magazine as being the only property in Fiji to make the ‘World’s Best Service’ list.
Renowned French-born chef Jacques Reymond — regarded as the leading fine dining chef in Australia — is Turtle Island's food consultant. Turtle Island's chefs, skilled in island living and cooking, create one-of-a-kind dishes out of the bounty of fresh seafood and organic fruits and vegetables that are grown in the island's own six-acre organic vegetable garden.
Turtle Island cuisine incorporates influences from Contemporary Pacific cuisine, which are readapted to take advantage of the island's fresh ingredients. "The style of cooking on Turtle is very personal and is one that reflects the country – I regard it as Pacific-Fresh," Reymond says. "Our produce is extremely fresh and light, and our recipes are interpreted from the local culture. While the ingredients are simple and pure, a complexity of flavors shows up on the taste buds."
Turtle Island's Pacific Rim inspired meals are prepared by six Fijian chefs in the island's state-of-the-art kitchen keeping focus on freshness and quality. For guests with special dietary requirements, our chefs will adapt to accommodate their needs.
In addition to just-picked produce that is young and tender, Reymond's menus also include diverse fish and seafood, such as Pacific green lobster, snapper, yellow fin tuna, wahoo and prawns — just caught by local fishermen in the surrounding waters and purchased that day by the chef from the nearby village's fishing boats.
Each day, the pastry chef bakes several types of bread, including croissants and brioche.
Our Island Pastry Chef is available to prepare your custom-designed cake for your wedding.
Your Personal Bure Mama. The Bure Mama ensures that guests have everything they need, and makes sure that their cottage, or “bure,” is as comfortable and worry-free as possible during the course of their stay. The Bure Mama is responsible for laundry and housekeeping, as well as a multitude of other services. They will be your guides on island tours, set up your picnics on a private beach, and perhaps return at the end of the picnic to help them pack up.
Your Bure Mama will also be given a digital camera to capture images of you (with your consent, of course), so that they can provide a "Memory Book" full of pictures and personal touches. It is also a wonderful service for the guest—to return home with an actual photo album already completed!
