My job as a wedding photographer is a wonderful privilege, being asked to document such a happy day in people's lives. I started photographing weddings full time in 2005 and since then I've photographed over 350 couples! I meet some of the most wonderful people and have been lucky enough to glean a few long-term friendships along the way. I love it when I photograph a wedding for someone and then the next year or a couple years later I photograph their brother's or sister's wedding, or their cousin's, or their maid of honor's, or their co-worker's friend's daughter's wedding... Over 75% of my business is from word-of-mouth referrals and I'm very proud of that!
I've been photographing weddings in Buffalo, Rochester, Niagara Falls, the Finger Lakes, and the Southern Tier for 11 years and I'll never say I've seen it all - there's a time at almost every wedding where I still get a tear in my eye, still laugh at a new joke, still smile as I marvel at the love between two people. It's definitely the most wonderful part of my job!
I offer several coverage options with a range of products - I can create beautiful flushmount wedding albums and contemporary layflat wedding books for those who want them, but I don't require the purchase of a book or album. If all you want is the beautiful, documentary style coverage of your wedding and the personal rights to the full resolution files to print as you wish, that is all you have to purchase. ALL of my packages include the rights to all of the hand-edited files with printing rights. For those of you who prefer a more hands-off approach, I can work with you to design books and albums for you and/or your parents, gallery wrapped canvas prints and wood-mounted wall portraits for your home, photo guest books of engagement photos, and even save the date and thank you cards.
My style is generally described as laid-back and unobtrusive documentary style. I have been called a "ninja" by several clients! I only take charge when I need to (posed family photos, organizing the wedding party, etc.) and prefer to let the rest of the day unfold as naturally as possible. Of course I can offer suggestions to make the most of our time together, but I am definitely not a photographer who will come in and run your day - if you want that, you need to hire a wedding planner or day-of coordinator (I can recommend some!). One of my favorite compliments is when someone sees a photo I took at their wedding and says, "I didn't even know you saw that!" or "I didn't even know that happened!" Of course I am open to requests for a couple specific photos, but I do my best work when people just plan their day well and trust me to get the best possible photos of the beauty that unfolds naturally.
If this all sounds like exactly your style, get in touch with me and we'll set up a meeting to go over the details of your wedding and see if I'll be a perfect fit for you! Looking forward to meeting you!
Wendy is an artist. She is creative and passionate, and you can see this shine through in her work. She shot my wedding 5 years ago, and the pictures are absolutely amazing. I recommend her to all of my family and friends. She is the very best!
Wendy is a tour de force. She's that perfect combination of ambition, talent and personality. The photos from my wedding in 2009 still feel as twinkly and exciting as they did when I first saw them. I'd hire her again, if I wasn't happily married.
Wendy is a very skilled photographer that takes outstanding pictures. She somehow manages to get these amazing shots even though her presence is unobtrusive. She balances perfectly her need to be assertive with a very accommodating personality.
Wendy was such a pleasure to work with and the quality of her work is phenomenal! We were so impressed by Wendy that two of my siblings also hired her for their weddings. It was the best decision we made for our wedding day!
Wendy Mitchell is like the ninja of wedding photography. While most companies need 2 photogs, she finds a way to do it all by herself. She does amazing work and is phenomenal at her job! I HIGHLY recommend her!
Wendy shot our wedding a decade ago and those pics are still some of my favorite in the world. She captured fleeting smiles, perfect little moments, & the feeling of the day. Hiring her was a great call: I love the way the day looked through her lens
