We both had recently started working for Enterprise Rent a Car back in 2003, Victor as a managment trainee and Cheryl as an accountant, when one of the managers invited us both to attend a Yankees spring training game. Cheryl immediately thought Victor was pretty cute, but if you've ever met Victor, he kind of gives off the wrong impression of indifference until you get to know him better. Well, after the game we walked back to our cars and discovered a gate around the parking lot had been closed and locked. Victor climbed right over and just left Cheryl standing on the other side without making sure she was safely to her car. First impression for Cheryl: not so good! Fortunately, Enterprise employees are a very social bunch, so a group was formed that included both of us. We frequently went out together, giving both of us a chance to get to know one another better. We became great friends, the whole bunch of us, but we always had a great connection with one another...
We were friends for years, but after about 3 years of knowing one another we started to talk more and spend more time with one another. For Cheryl she knew her feelings for Victor had changed when he mentioned that he was thinking of moving to Atlanta and she realized that she would really miss him being part of her life. For Victor, he realized it when a group of friends were watching football and Cheryl left early. He all of a sudden didn't want to see her go and thought about her the rest of the evening. After that we became best friends that fell in love...
Apparently we work in multiples of 3's because after about 3 and a half years of dating, Victor popped the question on Friday, February 13th 2009. Victor did a really great job of listening to Cheryl about the perfect ring and went to great lengths to educate himself (with the insight of Cheryl's all knowing gemologist of a sister) and spend a lot of time (sneaking off) to a former co-worker's family owned jeweler. Once he had picked out the perfect stone and the perfect setting he planned the perfect proposal. Vic had been working alot of hours and told Cheryl he was going to go into work late, but that he was getting up at the same time to get in a workout at the gym. Cheryl had a staff meeting that morning and was rushing to get to work early. When Cheryl went out to the car she was greeted by a sweet and touching Valentine's Day card on the passenger seat. After all the wonderful things Victor had written, it then instructed Cheryl to come back in the house for a surprise. Victor then ran down the stairs and told her that he had a gift and to close her eyes. When she opened them, there he was with the ring box and promptly bent on one knee and asked her the big quesion. Of course she said yes!!! Victor then further surprised Cheryl by saying he had already called into work for her and arranged for the day off and told her to pack a bag that they were going to head down to Sanibel Island for the weekend to get away and let it sink in together. It was perfect and special and we absolutely cannot wait to spend the rest of our lives together!!
