When the local coffee shop breaks out the pumpkin spice lattes and apple tarts, you know it's fall. Time to break out the festive autumn decorations and transform your table into a seasonal masterpiece. And being that I am much more of a Great Pumpkin than a Nightmare on Elm Street kind of gal, my fall accessories are full of earth tones and a tiny bit of whimsy. Above, add owl dinnerware to orange plates and black serving platters for a sweet Halloween tablescape.
If you don't want to be as overtly Halloween, but love a harvest theme, there are so many great ways to decorate your entertaining tables. Use classic white dinnerware but add tiny bits of burnt orange and grays to napkins and table linens. Especially when you are serving colorful, seasonal food like butternut squash soup or sweet potato crostini, neutral plates serve as the perfect backdrop. For texture add dark wicker and wooden accessories.
Getting creative with candlelight is such an appropriate way to usher in fall. As the days grow shorter (it feels like just yesterday it was light until bedtime, right?), candles can add a warm glow and welcoming atmosphere to any fall tablescape. Above, these candles sit inside large hurricanes filled with acorns (the neighborhood squirrels will be green with envy). Running the length of the table is an assortment of nuts, fruits, and squash. For couples that prefer a naturally simple look to their decor, this is a fantastic autumnal theme.
Below, although this decor is decorating a mantle, it would work equally well on a table. This autumn, metallics are very on-trend, and this fall-gone-glam take on traditional accessories would be right at home on a dinner table. The lightly colored glass vases and bronze candlesticks would be radiant atop cream-colored table linens.
