There's nothing quite like offering up homemade goodness right around Valentine's Day and there are some seriously creative ideas out there. I've pulled together a few of my favorites that are fun and very easy to do - plus, several of them would work perfectly as wedding ideas too!

The most impressive part of this first DIY is that Designer Danielle Thompson changes out the decorations above her fireplace for every holiday. And she makes them! If I get our Christmas cards out by Valentine's Day, I consider the year a success. Ahem.

She's put together a very cute tutorial on making a tissue paper fringe heart (and those lovely prints are by the artist Bianca Gomez - yet another Valentine's gift idea!)

This Rose Petal Heart from Elephant Nest is perfect for Valentine's Day, but how gorgeous would it be for your wedding decorations as well?

Elsie from Red Velvet is the absolute queen when it comes to putting a unique twist on DIY projects. She's done up a tutorial on making valentines that feature either someone you know or in her case, celebrities. And, don't worry you don't need to know how to draw - she shows you how to do it with tracing.

How adorable are these matchbox valentines from Inchmark? Filled with little treats your co-workers would be very impressed if you brought a bunch of these in... They'd also work as favors for a wedding, adding a touch of color to your place settings, don't you think?

What's Valentine's Day without a bit of homemade sweets? Bakerella has pulled together a list of her treats that will make any valentine yours forever (there are some Red Velvet Sandwich Cookies on there that I can't stop thinking about).

And let's say you do make up those Red Velvet cookies and want to send them to someone (hint, hint), why not make the packaging as pretty as the gift? Design*Sponge has a cigar box, 3d valentine tutorial that only looks hard.

Have you taken on any DIY projects this Valentine's Day?
