Do you think you're too young or that your skin is too oily to need a moisturizer? It's a common mistake among younger women. The fact is that especially during these colder, drier months, your skin (no matter what type you have) is thirsty for moisture. Plus, it will give you a great glow!
First, make sure your cleanser is the right one for you. Of course, no woman wants breakouts, but if you don't have oily skin, you probably don't need the tough stuff. Your cleanser should leave your skin feeling smooth, but not greasy or super dry.
And then we get into some controversial territory: toners. Personally, I am pro-toner. It helps with everything from removing sneaky leftover soap residue to resetting the ph balance of your skin. Again, you probably don't need the stuff that could strip paint. Pick out something gentle for your particular skin type. I really love Neutrogena's Alcohol Free Toner for those with normal to sensitive skin.
Once or twice a week you should exfoliate in one way or another. Some people prefer to do that with some type of fruit acid masque. Others prefer a rice-powder based "scrub" (although you really shouldn't use anything too rough or scrub too hard) like Dermalogica's Daily Microfoliant.
And finally, it's time for moisturizing. If you have oily or combination skin, try an oil-free moisturizer like Cetaphil's Oil Control. Those with normal skin might like Bobbi Brown's Protective Face Lotion. And for those with drier skin, Clarins' Multi-Active Day Correction Cream (this is what I use and it is absolutely worth every penny).
Whenever you are trying a new skin care regime, give your skin a couple of weeks to adjust. In other words, don't change it up five days before your wedding! But by adding moisture-rich products to your skin care arsenal you should love not only how your skin looks, but also how it feels!
