The bride, Kelly, and I have one thing in common: we both love green.She and David did a great job of subtly infusing apple green throughout their wedding details. What was your vision for your wedding?
The vision I had for our wedding was exactly how it turned out. In fact, it exceeded all expectations I ever had! I wanted the ceremony to be meaningful and the reception to be fun! I started planning by choosing our colors, I knew I wanted to stick with traditional black and white and add an extra pop of color. I had seen apple-green paired with black and white before and knew it was exactly the color I wanted to add. Once I found my bridesmaid shoes I kept incorporating apple green in other aspects of the day. Our florist was amazing, she knew I was a girl with a specific vision on a budget and made it happen. She used white flowers with bright green accents throughout. The ceremony was light and springy and the reception brought that extra touch of elegance by adding the green lighting and incorporating a lot of candles in our centerpieces, cake table and candy table. Beyond that we knew that we wanted our wedding to be fun and memorable. We couldn't have made that happen without the help of our amazing DJ, Eric Morales and MC, Trevor Penick. They got the party started like we knew they would and it didn't stop until after midnight.
Did your wedding location hold a specific significance to you?
Anaheim Hills Golf Course was actually the first venue we checked out and we loved it, so we didn't even look any further! I always pictured myself getting married on a Golf Course because I knew I'd make my dad proud since he is an avid golfer. I thought the ceremony location in front of the fountain was beautiful and we couldn't have asked for a better ballroom for the reception.
What was the most meaningful part of your day?
This would have to be our ceremony. It was exactly what we had envisioned it to be. From start to finish the ceremony was very "us" with laughter, tears and joy. The intimacy of the location also made us feel the love from our friends and family who were there to witness. It was important to both of us for it to be meaningful and convey who we are, so we added a lot of personal touches to make it our own. Two of my grandparents were unable to be there, so for my bouquet I had our florist add a broach that my grandmother had given me that had a picture of her and my grandfather. We also had my Uncle do a reading titled "The Art of Marriage" which was beautiful and described everything a marriage should be.
Did anything funny or out of the ordinary happen?
One of the funnest parts of the day was surprising our bridal party and guests with our first dance. We started off with a slow dance to our song, "Let's Stay Together" by Al Green and then had the DJ cut the music and go in to "It Takes Two" by Rob Base. It was so fun and set the tone for the rest of the evening. After that I'm pretty sure everyone knew it was going to be a fun night!
Tell us details of the events surrounding the wedding as well.
We were both so lucky to have surrounded ourselves with such amazing friends and family. My bridesmaids hosted a beautiful bridal shower brunch for me with champagne, bellini cocktails, and delicious breakfast souffles. My mom also hosted a family bridal shower for me incorporating our wedding colors and my favorite food, italian. My bachelorette party was such a blast! We rented suites out in Palm Desert, lounged by the pool during the day and played fun, sassy party games and hit the town at night.
How did you know your partner was "the one"?
From our first date I knew that David was the one for me. They say when you know, you just do and I never believed that until I met him. He's my best friend and everything I could ever want and need in a partner. He motivates me to be my best and believes in me more than anyone. We laugh and have so much fun together!
Any advice you'd give new brides who are just getting started?
Don't sweat the small stuff... it's just not worth it. Your day will be what you make of it, if everyone sees you and your groom enjoying your day, then they will be right there with ya! As long as there is good music, family and friends you will have the best day. Think positive throughout the planning process and choose good vendors that you can trust will make your day everything you imagined it would be!
