Thank you everyone for your birthday well wishes and for the presents!! =) Although I didn't manage to celebrate my birthday in Singapore and I didn't have a birthday party, I still had a great time meeting up with everyone, celebrating my birthday early with my family, and receiving loads of blessings and presents from some wonderful friends! One doesn't need a birthday to feel special because any day can be special when you have family and friends who love and care for you! =) Thanks everyone! I am truly blessed! =)
Wondering how Yonggeng celebrated my birthday for me? Well, he brought me to an Italian restaurant, Forlino, for an early birthday celebration in Singapore!
Forlino is a new Italian restaurant at One Fullerton. It overlooks the Singapore River and has a brilliant view of the Esplanade! It was a bright and sunny day and I was exceptionally cheerful that day!

That's Yonggeng with his starter!

It's a tiny piece of pan-fried cod fish, which was absolutely delicious!! The outer layer was so crisp, it felt like it just came out of the frying pan. And inside, the omega-rich cod fish just melts in your mouth!! I really love the healthy-oily taste of cod!! =)
And that's me, nibbling on a piece of foccacia bread!
The bread, drizzled with a big of olive oil, was so fresh and delicious!! It's definitely not the stale and hard bread you get at some restaurants.
The next dish was the cold-cut meat/sausages! To tell you the truth, we didn't know how to appreicate this dish... I guess it's a very Italian thing... but it's too weird for our tastebuds! =P Nevertheless, I was amazed by how thinly sliced the meat were (top right). It was as thin as tissue paper!!! =P

Next up, we had stuffed ravioli (they looked like small pillows), which was super tasty! I've never really liked stuffed ravioli because it's usually too starchy and too filling. But I totally loved this dish because the ravioli 'skin' was so thin and soft and the stuffing was light and delicious! =) The portion was also small enough to ensure that you don't get sick of it!
Yonggeng with his main course: Forlino's Mama Lamb Chop! It's called Mama Lamb Chop because the chef/owner's mum came up with the recipe!
And I had more cod fish for my main course!! =) simply delicious!!
Finally, we had dessert! We had chocolate mousse with hazelnut cream! very delicious!! just like Ferrero Rocher!
To end of the meal on a sweet note, we were served the petit four: chocolate, meringue, turkish delight and more meringue!
Overall, I would give Forlino 4 out of 5 for it's excellent food, great service, and spectacular view!! =)
