It's the end of Yonggeng's Year 3 exams! So, to reward ourselves... we decided to go eat some good food!! =) And we chanced upon this restaurant, called Ubiquitous Chip!!
This indoor restaurant has a very outdoor feel because of all the vines and plants! The roof is made of glass so the warm sunshine provides natural lighting! It's air-conditioned in here so it feels cool even though you feel like you are dining al fresco! =)
As it gets dark outside, these lamps light up and contribute to the romantic atmosphere! We really love the design and decor of this restaurant! And we both decided that when we grow old and become rich, we would open a restaurant with a similar concept in Singapore!! =) This restuarant is indeed a tranquil place amidst a busy city!!
Of course, a restaurant should not pride itself only for its decor. The food should match up to its wonderful atmosphere! And we would confidently say that we were not even a wee bit disappointed! Here's a complimentary starter, which is a very delicious vegetable soup served in tea cups!! =)
Yonggeng ordered these scallops as appetizer. They were succulent and sweet! =) delicious!!
I ordered mussels for appetizer and it was sooooooo yummy!! They were juicy in a sweet white wine sauce! =) =)
Next up is Yonggeng's main course!! This dish, Scotch Lamb Trio, is extremely exciting!! From left (clockwise), we have the lamb shoulder served in the form of a minced pie! It was rich in gravy and had an interesting texture compared to the other parts of the lamb. Next, we have the thigh stuffed with scallops. It was very tender and delicious! Lastly, there's the 3 pieces of loin, which were perfectly done! =) This is such a brilliant dish as you get to taste the different parts of the lamb, cooked in different styles! Very creative indeed! =)
And the highlight of the day is my main course: the ROOK! The Rook is a crow-like bird that is hunted only 2 weeks in the entire year! I was very lucky to be able to try it! =) In the foreground, we have the roasted thighs, which tasted like very tender frog legs!! =) On both sides, we have the breast meat wrapped in bacon and pan-fried! In the background, (it is not very clear) we have the pan-fried liver and heart!!! I think this is one of the most exotic dishes I've ever tried!! =)
All in all, we love this restaurant a lot!! and we foresee that we will be back quite often!! =) =) It helps that they change their menu frequently according to the season and use ingredients that are in season!! =) We give five-stars to this wonderful restaurant!! Now, if only there were such high quality restaurants in Singapore!!
