We initially wanted to tie the knot in Seck Kia Eenh. However, we found out that things did not turned out the way we wanted & we had to source for another location. So, we had four choices at hand:
1) Association in Bachang, opposite Tan Chong Motors -- Melaka.
2) Tien How Heng Ann, Bukit Cina -- Melaka
3) Government Office, Seri Negeri -- Melaka
4) KL/Putrajaya
Since everyone is in Melaka, we'll have to opt out choice (4).
Finally, we've decided to go for choice no. 2!
We went to the association on 11 April 2009 to make some enquiries & ended up collecting the form as well!
We tied the knot on the 6th June, 2009.
The registrar was a very friendly and happy man. We all enjoyed the short & sweet session.
Thank you very much for making our day so lively.

"Kita ni orang peranakan, kalau mo bikin barang, mesti kena ikut adat". This is what my grandmother would always remind us again and again as a Peranakan.
In other words, the Lap Chai ceremony is where the groom would come over to the bride's place with all the 'goodies and gifts'. Some people would commemorate the day as the engagement day.

5) Peng kim (duit hantaran to the bride's family)
6) Wang tetek (i know this sounds vulgar but the groom would have to give this to the bride's mom)
7) A card to confirm time for cheo thau & wedding (to be pasted on the front door on the wedding =day)
8) Cakes to be sent to close relatives and friends
9) Fruits, clothes, shoes and etc
The bride will need to return/exchange some of the gifts to the groom as well:-
1) A pair of candles wrapped in red paper
2) 2 bottles of concentrated drink
3) Jewelries, clothes, shoes and etc.
This event was attended by close relatives only.
The ceremony begins at 09.00am and ends at about 12.00pm.

Seck Kia Eenh
The bride & groom will pay their respect to the Lord Buddha. A small blessing ceremony will be held in the Bodhi tree area.
There'll be hymn singing session led by the MOD-ians (Messengers of Dharma)& a short puja lead by 'bhante'.
When we arrived at the temple, the bell was already ringing. We felt so honored. It was a beautiful wedding blessing!
