Oscars 2019: Wedding Gown Inspo from Hollywood’s Biggest Night

All the hoopla surrounding the 91st Academy Awards may have come to an end, but the red carpet fashion lives on in the form of wedding gown inspiration for months and even years to come. There were a variety of designer dresses that could pass for bridal attire throughout the 2019 awards season, but the stars were in full-on royalty mode on Hollywood’s biggest night. From regal award-winner Regina King’s leg-baring Oscar de la Renta to presenter Kacey Musgraves’s princessy Giambattista Valli ball gown, here are our favorite would-be wedding dresses — plus their more affordable doppelgängers from retailers such as Saks Fifth Avenue, BHLDN, David’s Bridal and more.

Regina King: Oscar de la Renta High Slit White Gown

If Beale Street Could Talk, it would say that Oscar-winning actress Regina King wore a gorgeous gown that’s completely wedding worthy. The Best Supporting Actress Winner chose this custom Oscar de la Renta Ivory Cady Pesante Gown, which features sculptural hand draping and an asymmetrical train, but all we can focus on is that daring and sultry high slit. Va-va-voom! Get a similar look for (most likely…) quite a bit less with this Ella strapless sweetheart mermaid gown by Likely. It’s simple, but sophisticated with a foldover sweetheart neckline , fitted waist and — you guessed it — a sexy high slit to show off your toned bridal legs. ($378;

Amandla Stenberg: 1920s Fringe Miu Miu Gown

The Hate U Give actress Amandla Stenberg was a presenter on Oscar night, but she didn’t need to give an acceptance speech to make a statement — her stunning nude-and-silver-fringe Miu Miu gown took our breath away. It may be 2019, but this dress is so 1920s. Art Deco-obsessed brides can go for a twin look with this beautiful, body-skimming, sparkly nude dress from BHLDN. The artful, vertical beading gives the illusion of fringe, creating a sophisticated, flapper effect. ($390;

Amy Adams: Metallic Mermaid Fishtail Versace Gown

She was nominated for Vice, but Amy Adams looked more like her 2007 film Enchanted in this mermaid-style, metallic Versace gown. We adore this dress, which hits all the right notes with its sweetheart bustier top and figure-hugging, floor-length skirt with fishtail hem. Beachy brides or destination wedding glamour gals can try a similar look with this Galina Signature beaded mermaid wedding dress with a tulle skirt. The top of this form fitting gown features a plunging sweetheart neckline (with illusion panel for some extra modesty), while the mermaid skirt delights with layers of dreamy, pleated tulle. ($700;

Jennifer Lopez: Tom Ford Metallic Long Sleeve Gown

Mirror, mirror on the gown, who’s the fairest bride in Tinseltown? OK, so far those J.Lo and A. Rod engagement and wedding planning rumors are just that — rumors — but if anyone could pull off a dramatic, metallic, long-sleeve wedding look, it’s Jennifer Lopez. If you’re planning a fall or winter wedding, here’s a kindred spirit dress to consider. Elegant and edgy at once, this floor-length Vince Camuto metallic long sleeve sequin pale blue and silver gown with a bateau neckline (think: Meghan Markle) will make an incredible, confident statement on a bold bride. ($268;

Lupita Nyong’o: Oscar de la Renta Feathered Gown

Who needs tulle and lace when you can wear feathers like Lupita? The Black Panther star’s short (high-low hem) but uniquely beautiful Oscar de la Renta dress would look fresh and funky on a similarly youthful, one-of-a-kind bride. We think this David’s Bridal strapless lace wedding dress with ostrich feathers has a comparable appeal. This white-hot number hits just above the knee, is designed with sequins and lace, features a sweetheart neckline and boasts a fabulous feathered hem. ( $90;

Kacey Musgraves: Pink Tiered Tulle Giambattista Valli Gown

Modern brides don’t need to wear white to be the belle of the ball. Non-traditional gowns, especially in shades of pink and blush, are all the rage in 2019. Take a page out of Grammy winner and Oscar presenter Kacey Musgraves’s songbook and try on a “pretty in pink” bridal look. Her Giambattista tulle gown with tiered skirt, flared sleeves and bow brooch detail at the waist is giving us serious princess vibes. For a similar, though somewhat more subtle dress, we love this Alice McCall My Baby Love Ruffle gown. Ruffled skirt? Check. Flare sleeves? Check. Bow detail at the waist? Check. Ballet slipper pink? You bet. ($750;

SZA: Vivienne Westwood High-Low Ball Gown

We have stars in our eyes as we gaze upon Oscar-nominated “All the Stars” singer SZA’s fabulous Vivienne Westwood gown. The obvious highlight of this dress is its structured yet youthful high-low design. If you want to duplicate this dramatic look, check out this Beaded Lace and Organza Two-Piece Wedding Dress from David’s Bridal. Modern, beautiful and feminine, this eye-catching dress features a low back, plunging neckline and figure-skimming silhouette for that wedding wow-factor. ($550;
