Destination Wedding: Paris, France

Turn your destination wedding or honeymoon into a fairy tale in the City of Lights.

Fairy tales may not come true in everyday life, but when planning a honeymoon or destination wedding in Paris, prepare to be whisked away to an alternate reality one that is soaked in decadence and refinement. Not only does the City of Light boast stunning architecture, rich culture, and gilded wedding venues, but you can’t be in Paris without effortlessly celebrating the beauty of love with every sip of wine and every nibble of freshly-baked baguette.

Where some of history’s most famous artists and poets came to be inspired, planning a destination wedding in this city where the Age of Enlightenment caught its spark can only mean one thing: illuminated perfection.

The Best Destination Wedding Reception Sites in Paris

Salon Marie-Antoinette at the Hotel Plaza Athenee: Located on 25 Avenue Montaigne (one of the most exclusive streets in Paris proper), the Salon Marie-Antoinette suite is as close to the Palace of Versailles as any bride could ever hope to be. With this five-star hotel as the staging point, this private banquet room overlooks the romantic outdoor corridor dotted with red awnings and linen covered tables. With peek-a-boo fleur-de-lis drapes framing the scene, ornate wainscoting artistically climbs the walls from top to bottom. This venue is truly fit for a princess and her prince, inviting you and your guests to experience Parisian elegance without even trying.

Musee Rodin: Parisian architecture, immaculate gardens, and ample square footage of famous French artists on display sum up the reasons why getting married at this museum is the quintessential combination of everyone’s fascination with Paris. Nothing modern about it, the elegant tree-lined walkways, sprawling gardens, and stately Hotel Biron make this venue one of the most beautiful in the city. Much like being in your own private garden yet moments from the heartbeat of downtown Paris, this venue has an on-site chapel and can accommodate up to 50 guests comfortably.

The Ins-and-Outs of a Destination Wedding in Paris

Requirements: To legally tie the knot in Paris, you must have a French Civil Authority perform the wedding, such as the mayor or the town counselor in the county (mairie) of your choice. If you hope to have a religious ceremony, you must perform the civil ceremony first. You will need to apply for a short stay visa to wed in Paris. Additionally, there is a waiting period of 40 days in the county you wish to get married in. Only one of you is required to have residence in that town for the duration of that time.
