Best Brews for Your Indianapolis Honeymoon
After a day spent wandering through the Indianapolis city sights, we can’t help but wonder if you and your sweetheart might be in search of some place to sit back, relax, and rest those tired honeymooning feet. Fortunately, Indianapolis is home to an active craft brew community with a variety of styles and ambiance-packed pubs that are completely at you and your love’s beer-tasting disposal.
The oldest brew pub in the state, the Broad Ripple Brewpub was established and designed to recreate a traditional English pub complete with dark wood paneling and a cozy fireplace. Broad Ripple’s most popular – and award-winning – beer is the brewery’s IPA. We highly recommend sipping, whatever your selection, on the outdoor café patio which is one of the largest in the Broad Ripple area.
Located just outside of Indianapolis in Fort Benjamin Harrison, Triton Brewing Company is another local brewery specializing in craft beer. Tours are available at the 10,000 foot red brick brewing facility, and a stop at the adjacent Tap Room is practically required. Meanwhile, Black Acre Brewing Co. is an area favorite with highly unique twists on traditional ales and IPAs. The Green Tea Pale Ale, for example, sports green tea, ginger, and honey accents.
With numerous wineries within moments of Indianapolis’ downtown area, we only have one thing to say about Indy’s local viticulture: check out the Indy Wine Trail. Seven unique wineries in locations ranging from urban tasting rooms to nearby vineyards make up the wine trail, each with a selection worth savoring. Buck Creek Winery boasts an impressing roster of award-winning wines, and Chateau Thomas Winery’s setting is ideal for sunshine and sipping alike.
