Planning a Big Island Wedding
While the Big Island doesn’t traditionally pick up the same amount of tourist interest as some of Hawaii’s other destinations, the state’s namesake is still qualified – in our opinion – to call itself paradise. Twice the size of the other islands combined and home to the most active volcano in the world, the Big Island happens to be the perfect place to find adventure for destination wedding planners and honeymooners alike. Try hiking across a lava field, or spending the day on white sand beaches. Snorkeling is a perfect way to explore the coral-filled wonders under the water’s surface, and rain forest trails tend to lead directly to incredible tropical sights like Akaka Falls.
If you are planning a Big Island destination wedding, feel free to expand your horizons beyond the traditional beach at sunset ceremony and look inland. The “Orchid Isle” lives up to its name and the lush rain forests and beautiful variety of agriculture here is utterly impressive and a photo-ready background for your wedding day. Upcountry, the Holualoa Inn is one of our all-time favorite Big Island wedding venues, and the entire property can be rented for destination weddings and sleeps up to 12 people. The Anna Ranch Heritage Center is another hillside wedding location with a number of indoor and outdoor ceremony and reception sites. The front lawn and nearby gardens are ideal for large celebrations, and the venue works with a variety of caterers and rental companies to help make your day perfect – with or without the help of a Big Island wedding planner.
