Welcome Gifts for Guests
While gift baskets for your out-of-towners are not absolutely necessary, they are excellent gestures that let them know how grateful you are that they came. Although, I know, it sounds like one more detail that you don’t have time for; gift baskets are often easy and very much appreciated.
While gift baskets for your out-of-towners are not absolutely necessary, they are excellent gestures that let them know how grateful you are that they came. Although, I know, it sounds like one more detail that you don’t have time for; gift baskets are often easy and very much appreciated. If all your creativity has been absorbed by the wedding planning, this is a nice task to ask for suggestions for from friends and family who have offered to be more involved.
There are a few very popular types of gift bags. They include:
Practical – Give baskets that include things that you anticipate your guests may need, but might have forgotten to pack. Summer outdoor wedding? Give them sunscreen, a fan, and a bottle of water. Outdoor wedding in a cooler climate? Pack them handwarmers and a hot cocoa packet in a thermal mug. Planning to have a raucous reception? Be a great friend and offer them aspirin, a gift certificate to the nearest coffeehouse, and hangover foods.
Local Showcase – Show them why you love the town you chose to have your wedding in. Married in Manhattan? Buy them a map with your favorite tourist spots highlighted, a bag of candy from Dylan’s Candy Bar, and a shiny red apple. No matter where your nuptials are, be sure to share any tourist tips you can pass along, such as suggestions for local transportation, restaurant recommendations, and, even what tourist traps should be avoided.
Snacks – Most welcome bags are simply a collection of treats. Do you and your groom have a sweet tooth? Combine your favorite candies in small cellophane bags and clear plastic boxes. Tie them with ribbons matching your wedding colors. Not having a brunch the morning after the wedding? Give them scones, tea, and jam.
Whatever you give your visiting friends and family, they will be delighted!
