Desert Wedding Inspiration for True Romantics

Desert Wedding Inspiration for True Romantics

These desert wedding ideas come straight from the new issue of mywedding.

Romantic wedding themes come in almost every size, shape and style — but there’s something particularly breathtaking about the raw, unfinished edge a rugged natural setting adds to any wedding celebration. To shed more light on the beautiful opportunities created by the right juxtaposition of natural elements and refined style, we set out into the desert for the new issue of mywedding. The result? Thanks to an incredibly talented team of vendors coordinated by RO & Co. Events and the photography genius of Birds of a Feather, this desert wedding inspiration turned out nothing short of flawless. Here are the details in all their glory — and you can find even more ideas from the shoot, plus tips and ideas for how to create your own personalized wedding day, in the Summer 2017 issue of mywedding.

Isn’t it amazing what a beautiful photo backdrop nature can provide? These large rock outcroppings on site provided enough shade for breathtaking photos while keeping the unique setting front of mind.

The location, The Ruin Venue, provided the perfect framework for this inspiration shoot. The venue’s rustic, desert vibe and incredibly private desert location made for a backdrop that was equal parts elegant and effortless. The previously abandoned structures and more recent additions (like string lighting and a non-traditional courtyard) had just the right amount of personality.

These calligraphy, cactus escort cards are without a doubt one of our favorite details from the shoot. Once designer Robin Baab of RO & Co. Events and florist Lavenders Flowers sourced and selected the right cacti, la Happy Design added the elegant hand lettering to complete the picture.

This color palette — and especially the addition of these textural, blush plates — was inspired by the shoot’s desert location. Muted pinks and peaches, soft greens, raw materials, the whole palette came together beautifully to complement the setting in an organic, natural way.

Recognize this cake? We fell so hard for this incredible, desert-inspired but still super modern dessert by Sweet and Saucy Shop we just had to put it on the cover of our new issue! It’s officially too pretty to eat.

Okay, so let’s talk about this cape. Talk about a statement fashion detail for your wedding day! The airy accessory was exactly the right addition to the sleek, simple, modern look of the wedding dress — just like the one of a kind hair accessory below.
