Although these newlyweds met in preschool, where Austin was Elyce’s first crush, they grew up together as friends and didn’t begin dating until after college. “Before that the timing was never right,” Elyce said. “One of us was always dating somebody else. But we had that foundation of friendship, which we think has made all the difference.”
The proposal took place on a date night in New York City: The couple was going to see Les Miserables, Elyce’s favorite show. While Austin originally hoped to have the proposal written on the marquee at the show, weeks and weeks of phone calls revealed this wasn’t to be. Instead, he popped the question during dinner at the Russian Tea House where a photographer snapped a few photos of the couple after Elyce said yes. Thanks to Rodeo & Co.
