Last Minute Recipes for a Holiday Dinner

Here are 10 fabulously festive recipes perfect to take any holiday feast!

It’s almost Christmas, and you agreed to bring a dish to the big holiday dinner. But you totally forgot until 5 minutes ago, and are now desperately searching for something relatively simple (but also kinda amazing) to make. Here are 10 fabulously festive recipes perfect to take to the feast!

Side dishes are the unsung stars of the show. Sure, the ham and turkey get all the applause, but let’s face it, what would a family dinner be without potatoes or butter-drenched veggies?  Above, make this delish sweet potato casserole to wow your Aunt Carol!

If you are set to bring the veggies, go for caramelized bourbon carrots or fresh brussels sprouts.

Take the usual dinner salad up a couple of notches with the addition of ruby-red pomegranate seeds, feta cheese, and chopped walnuts. Serve with a tangy vinaigrette.

Aren’t carbs just wonderful?  Seriously, they are the greatest.  Load up your loved ones with savory stuffing or fresh-from-the-oven rolls.

Are your Christmas dinners all-day affairs?  Bring a yummy appetizer in case the meal takes longer than expected. You can make this spinach dip in a jiffy and rip up some store-bought sourdough to nosh on.

We also love these sweet and sour meatballs (below). You can prepare them in a slow cooker, and while the recipe’s ingredients are a bit strange, the end result is very yummy.

Thanks to the movie The Holiday, fettuccine on Christmas Eve is totally a thing now.  Before you go visit all those friends and family, have a night in with this pasta and the two of you.

What to do with all those leftovers?  When you just can’t take one more ham sandwich, whip up this easy quiche instead.

Of course, it wouldn’t be the holidays if we didn’t have to put on our stretchy pants due to massive sugar consumption. Make a moist pumpkin gingerbread loaf or a batch of decorated sugar cookies.

If you are in charge of the dinner’s big finish, make a showstopping chocolate cake. It looks way more complicated than it is (chocolate shavings are magic).

To cap the evening off, there is nothing quite like a homemade spiked eggnog.  Happy Holidays!
