Gabe and Araceli’s Traditional Garden Wedding by Powers Photography Studios
This traditional garden wedding takes place in West Linn, Oregon, a suburb of Portland. Sunny and warm, it was the perfect Northwest day for an outdoor event. We love that this adorable couple can’t stop smiling wide throughout their entire wedding day!
Read below for the bride’s advice and thoughts on wedding planning. Thank you to the lovely Powers Photography Studios for sharing this with us!
What was your vision?
I wanted to create a warm and romantic mood. I chose full flowers and soft colors. I love hydrangeas. Growing up my mom always had a garden full of them, so it was very important to incorporate them. My centerpieces and cake all had hydrangeas. I’m not really a DIY type of girl but I did spray paint all of my own candle holders with silver and glitter spray paint to tie in the grey color. It actually ended up being a cost-effective way to add a little bling on the tables.
Did anything funny or out of the ordinary happen?
The week before and leading up to the wedding it had been raining and cold so I had started to worry about the weather conditions for our ceremony, as it was outdoors. I kept praying to the weather gods to give me good weather and the day of the wedding it was a perfect 75 degree day with no clouds in the sky.
Tell us details of the events surrounding the wedding, as well.
Instead of doing the traditional rehearsal dinner we opted for a rehearsal brunch as that is my favorite meal of the day and the minor detail that the Oregon Ducks were playing later that night. Gabe and I are huge Ducks fans and wouldn’t miss a game for anything. We had a brunch at Babica Hen in Lake Grove and then we all met up in our Ducks gear late that evening to watch the game at a sports bar.
Any advice you’d give new brides who are just getting started?
Just enjoy being engaged before you start planning your wedding. It’s such a special time in your life that you only get once and you will appreciate it once the madness of planning a wedding begins.
